Frame Lines Magazine edition

A busy and prolific year has seen interest in Samantha Thompson’s work reach new heights. Her easily adored Pastels ever present in this her 2008 collection.  After vast experimentation has developed other areas of her work to include large scale acrylic and Oil on Canvas, Ink with Lino Print, glass and Fiber Art.

Her bright intuitive work uses bold lines, strong colour and evocative images, celebrating both male and female sensuality.  2008 also saw Samantha move her studio base, a casual: comfortable place to both meet customers to discuss commission ideas, view new work, prints, back catalogue work and current work in progress.

Accolades come thick and fast this year with solo shows at Collective Gallery Melbourne and Territory colours in Darwin, representation at Forbes Art Gallery in N.S.W, Bella Art Gallery- Queensland and Art Melbourne.

Perhaps the biggest highlight would have to be the international interest in her work, with originals and commissioned work going to Florida, New York, London, Scotland and Canada; she will also be showing at the Guanzing International Art Fair, China. With having also been selected as a feature artist by the "Chairs for Charity" Event, 2008 has proven Samantha Thompson imposable to ignore.

Bold lines, a keen sense of colour and evocative images are a trademark of Samantha's work. Playful images come alive through instinctual expression. Every piece takes on life of its own as Samantha uses her unique style to instantly transmit her creativity. Her style of creating art without over thinking the process or intent leaves the viewer with an unselfconscious and pure representation.

Samantha was born in Sydney, Australia in 1978. The youngest of five children she spent her formative years travelling with her wanderlust parents before settling in Melbourne. At a very young age she gained immeasurable experience in her parents' design and retail shop, travelling frequently for special design shows in Asia and New York.

After building up a strong collector base in Melbourne, Samantha opened her studio in 2007. The Studio serves as a base for clients to see Samantha’s new work and to discuss commission ideas.  Galleries across Australia have also included Samantha’s work in there collection, Including Forbes Art Gallery in NSW and Territory Colours in Darwin.
